I didn't mention in my last blog( it was already too long) that Ken was in the hospital. He is skin and bones and keeps getting so dehydrated that his BP drops and he kind of shuts down so mom calls 911 and he spends a few days in the hospital getting rehydrated and then comes home. He came home yesterday. He is now getting hospice care along with his caregivers care. I told mom that medicare usually covers a lot if not all of the cost of their care and kind of manages everything if he is on hospice so I guess she must have discussed it with the social workers because that is what he came home with. She gets frustrated too with Ken's daughter Dixie who calls the hospital constantly and medels with everything mom trys to do and pesters the nurses for information. I told mom that she ( mom) has medical power of attorney and she can limit who gets info and gives direction. Mom told the nurses this and she said they acted kind of scared. They should. They know that the hippa privacy law prohibits giving out information on a patient to anyone except the POA or have the POA's permission.I told mom if Ken has to go to the hosp. again to tell the nurses her wishes at the beginning of his stay .That way Dixie must get her information from mom not the other way around. Mom is Ken's wife not Dixie.

Oh while Ken was in the hospital (Katie who was making a quick trip here to see her Scottsdale friends )took mom to see Ken in the Hospital. What a lifesaver. I had to work that day. Mom was thrilled! She loved seeing Katie and Katie gave her a beautiful vase of roses. She was thrilled about that too. Thanks Katie, that was so nice! Next time come and stay longer ( I have 2 spare rooms again, wa hoo). Mom told me that she had just prayed that she would be able to find a ride to the hospital on my work day and presto she opened the door and there was Katie. Talk about answered prayer!!! ( God brought a "taxi" all the way from Cali just for mom and a really cool one too. Mom loves her grandchildren!)I'm glad mom is here and that she prays for all of us. She is a special lady.
